Everyone Has Something…

Writing books and designing them is hard work. It doesn’t happen in and of itself. Putting
this book together has been the equivalent of a full-time job. I am always amazed at the
people that believe creative work is “easy.” These are the types of people that don’t want
to pay for creative services you provide (web design, assets, blog copy), or worse yet, they
just steal your stuff and say it is their stuff. It is infuriating.

Why am I telling you this?

Simple.

I think people glamorize others, and they think to themselves that if they had what human X had,
then they could do what human X does. They don’t think that human X has worked hard to make
it. They don’t see what human X has done to get to where they are today. It is easier to glamorize
people than to have to think about it in detail. When you start thinking that creative people are just
like you, but they prioritize and spend all their free time producing something that people might, or
might not like, they then might have to inwardly look at what they are doing in their “free” time.

I think you can do anything you set your mind to doing. If I can do this, you can do what you
dream about doing.

I am not special.

I spend all my time learning, writing and designing. I only grocery shop once a week, and many
times the Nurse will pick things up on the way home from work to help free up time, and I limit
all my outings. I need to seriously manage my time, so I can produce what I dream about producing.

Everything in life is a matter of give and take. If I tell my kids that as much as I would like to play
Nancy Drew with them and their dad for an hour, I would then have to give up my hour of painting. Life is give and take…

What do you dream about doing? Do you want it enough to give up something?
