Learner Personas for Eastern Kentucky University

Eastern Kentucky Library wanted to overhaul different areas within the library system; however, a board made all the decisions. Personas were created to bring focus back to the users of the library system.

Create empathy within the board and showcase who utilizes the library system.

Different user groups frequent the library for different reasons, and showcasing the users to the board differently was pertinent.

Create learner personas to help the board see who uses the library in a different light. Learner personas can bring a face to the problem, and they help decision-makers move forward because they see the problem through the eyes of the person with whom they are attempting to reach.

Microsoft products were used to create wordage and send communications.

Graphics were created in Adobe Photoshop.

The personas were created in Adobe InDesign.

The results were exported by Adobe Acrobat and delivered through OneDrive.

The first level of evaluation was the board representative liking the image; however, the higher level of evaluation, which was a hidden objective, was based upon the board approving the overall changes needing to be made in a timely manner.

I recommended creating personas to help put a face to the library’s problem with the website.
